The eighth edition of Hill Top Leadership Challenge, 2018, was conducted on 6 and 7 December. The Leadership Challenge, an annual interschool event organised by the Hill Top School, Jamshedpur, saw the participation in large numbers, where schools from cities around took part too. The two-day event focussed on identifying the budding leaders of tomorrow.

The participating students had to go through various rounds on day one, before the top eight were selected to go on stage, on day two.  A group discussion was conducted to shortlist candidates for the personal interview round. Of the 50 students who took part in the group discussion, 16 were selected for the personal interview. Post the interview, 8 students were shortlisted and were declared the ‘Super 8’.

The finale on day two saw the students introducing themselves to the audience, in the form of a tweet, debating over a given topic, being involved in a MUN sdiscussion and finally, answering the questions put forth by the jury. The jury consisted of Mr. G. Balasubramanian, the former Director of CBSE, Dr. Indranil Chattoraj, scientist at the National Metallurgical Laboratory and Prof. Sunil Kumar Sarangi from XLRI. The winner and runners were announced after considering various parameters like communication, empathy, clarity of thoughts, situation management, listening skills, attitude and confidence.

Ayati Mishra from Hill Top School emerged as the winner, while Agnidh Ghosh from Loyola School emerged as the first runner-up. The position of the second runner-up was shared by two contestants, Smriti Sultania from Delhi Public School, Ranchi, and Romit Bose from Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya.
