A rangoli at the entrance welcomed all the teachers. The bulletin boards displayed beautiful posters that related to the word ‘insight’. Teachers from various schools across Bengaluru came together under a single roof. The only common link that connected them, apart from their love for teaching, was their passion for quizzes. The 15th edition of ‘Teachers’ Qwiz’ was held at the National Hill View Public School (NHVPS), Bengaluru, on 1 September 2018. The theme this year was ‘Insight’, which was all about looking beyond the obvious. The event began with an introductory speech, a dance performance by the teachers and a speech by the chief guest, Dr. Sacchidanand, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and Director of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka.

The quiz commenced with a preliminary round, which saw the participation of 248 teachers from 47 different schools. This round was hosted by Ms. Rashmi Furtado, the young quizmaster from Greycaps. The round had 20 questions, a mixture of verbal and pictorial ones. 10 teams were shortlisted, of which 6 were selected for the finals based on their scores. The teachers had transformed into students, high-fiving and cheering, as the round progressed into the finale which was hosted by quizmaster Mr. Giri Balasubramaniam (Pickbrain). The final round proved to be an ‘edge of the seat’ moment for not only the participants, but also the audience.

Ms. Madhulika Chandrakumar and Ms. Geeta Viswanathan from Sishu Griha Montessori and High School were declared winners of ‘Qwiz 2018’, while Ms. Babitha E Z and Ms. Lakshmi Ananthakrishnan from BGS National Public School were declared as runners.

Mr. D. K. Sivakumar, Chairman of the NHVPS institution, distributed the prizes to the winners and the finalists.

A brief interaction with the winners, Ms. Madhulika and Ms. Geeta, revealed that the team was on stage for the 12th time in 15 years, and have won thrice already. They also mentioned that they have taken part all 15 years and enjoyed quizzes.
Overall, the theme resonated with each teacher and we couldn’t agree more, for teachers are known for their awareness and understanding, and they truly are ‘Insightful’!
